Chungcheongbuk-do Cheongju-si Seowon-gu

Registered foreigners in Chungcheongbuk-do Cheongju-si Seowon-gu number 4,322, which is 2.37% of the resident-registration population of 182,689. That is below both the national average of 3.14% and the Chungcheongbuk-do average of 3.9%. It ranks 146 among the 250 districts. Within Chungcheongbuk-do it ranks 12 of 14. Over the past 10 years, registered foreigners rose from 2,269 in 2015 to 4,322, an increase of about 90.5%. 73 nationalities are counted, and the three largest are Uzbekistan at 19%, Vietnam at 15.7%, and China at 11.1%. It ranks 128 of 250 districts. East Asia accounts for 29.1% and Southeast Asia for 24.8%, and the two together are 54%. Language demand estimated from the nationality composition is highest for Uzbek, then Vietnamese, then Chinese.

Foreign residents (MOIS) numbered 7,649 in 2024, which is 4% of the resident-registration population of 190,979. Of these, 6,206 do not hold Republic of Korea nationality, 551 have acquired nationality, and 892 are children of foreign residents. By type, other foreigners number 1,976, overseas Koreans with foreign nationality 1,947, International studentss 960, and foreign workers 804. Children of foreign residents number 892, which ranks 144 among 252 districts and is 11.7% of foreign residents in this district. Among the 4,322 people with a known status of stay, the most common are Student (D2) with 1,307 people at 30.2%, Marriage Migration (F6) with 429 at 9.9%, and Non-professional Employment (E9) with 422 at 9.8%. Organizations that support immigrants number 7 in this district, or 16.2 per 10,000 registered foreigners.
