Chungcheongbuk-do

Chungcheongbuk-do has 62,213 registered foreign residents, 3.9% of its resident-registration population of 1,596,502. That is above the national average of 3.14% and ranks 3rd among the seventeen provinces. 3.88% of all registered foreign residents in Korea live here. The share has risen from 2.06% in 2015 to 3.9%, a change of about 89.3%. 123 nationalities are counted, and the three largest are Vietnam (17.1%), China (10.8%), Nepal (10.8%). The nationality diversity index H is 2.667, 1st among the seventeen. By continent of origin the index is 0.167, 4th. Language demand estimated from nationality composition covers 33 languages and 47,621 people, the largest three being Vietnamese (19.1%), Chinese (14.8%), Uzbek (8.2%).

On the Ministry of the Interior and Safety count, foreign residents numbered 97,341 in 2024, 6.12% of the resident-registration population of 1,591,177. By type the largest are Other foreign residents (26,907), Migrant workers (24,432), Ethnic Koreans with foreign nationality (13,240). Children of foreign residents number 11,462. The settlement rate is 19.5% and the settlement type is classified as Multi-purpose. Of the 62,213 people whose visa status is recorded, the largest categories are Non-professional Employment (E9) 33.5%, Student (D2) 14.2%, Marriage Migration (F6) 8.6%. Across 14 districts Eumseong-gun leads on both count and share (15,313, 24.61% of the province, 16.24% of its population). This province holds 45 organizations serving immigrants, 7.2 per 10,000 registered foreign residents against 7.1 nationally.
