Gyeongsangnam-do Hapcheon-gun

Registered foreigners in Gyeongsangnam-do Hapcheon-gun number 1,095, which is 2.79% of the resident-registration population of 39,190. That is below both the national average of 3.14% and the Gyeongsangnam-do average of 3.53%. It ranks 120 among the 250 districts. Within Gyeongsangnam-do it ranks 14 of 22. Over the past 10 years, registered foreigners rose from 515 in 2015 to 1,095, an increase of about 112.6%. 27 nationalities are counted, and the three largest are Vietnam at 30.8%, Nepal at 22.2%, and Cambodia at 12.1%. It ranks 95 of 250 districts. Southeast Asia accounts for 62.1% and South Asia for 25%, and the two together are 87.1%. Language demand estimated from the nationality composition is highest for Vietnamese, then Khmer, then Nepali.

Foreign residents (MOIS) numbered 1,778 in 2024, which is 4.6% of the resident-registration population of 38,950. Of these, 1,254 do not hold Republic of Korea nationality, 162 have acquired nationality, and 362 are children of foreign residents. By type, other foreigners number 557, foreign workers 510, Marriage migrants 142, and overseas Koreans with foreign nationality 45. Children of foreign residents number 362, which ranks 215 among 252 districts and is 20.4% of foreign residents in this district. Among the 1,095 people with a known status of stay, the most common are Non-professional Employment (E9) with 495 people at 45.2%, Seasonal Worker (E8) with 229 at 20.9%, and Marriage Migration (F6) with 132 at 12.1%. Organizations that support immigrants number 1 in this district, or 9.1 per 10,000 registered foreigners.
