Gyeongsangbuk-do Yeongyang-gun

Registered foreigners in Gyeongsangbuk-do Yeongyang-gun number 250, which is 1.57% of the resident-registration population of 15,941. That is below both the national average of 3.14% and the Gyeongsangbuk-do average of 3.51%. It ranks 195 among the 250 districts. Within Gyeongsangbuk-do it ranks 18 of 23. Over the past 10 years, registered foreigners rose from 227 in 2015 to 250, an increase of about 10.1%. 17 nationalities are counted, and the three largest are Vietnam at 49.2%, Uzbekistan at 17.2%, and Cambodia at 10.4%. Shannon diversity (H) is 1.766, below the national 2.607, and ranks 235 of 250 districts. Within Gyeongsangbuk-do it ranks 21. By continent of origin, diversity is 0.085, below the national 0.123. It ranks 168 of 250 districts. Southeast Asia accounts for 64.4% and Central Asia for 17.2%, and the two together are 81.6%. Language demand estimated from the nationality composition is highest for Vietnamese, then Uzbek, then Khmer.

Foreign residents (MOIS) numbered 890 in 2024, which is 5.9% of the resident-registration population of 15,059. Of these, 587 do not hold Republic of Korea nationality, 86 have acquired nationality, and 217 are children of foreign residents. By type, other foreigners number 448, Marriage migrants 77, foreign workers 51, and overseas Koreans with foreign nationality 11. Children of foreign residents number 217, which ranks 242 among 252 districts and is 24.4% of foreign residents in this district. Among the 250 people with a known status of stay, the most common are Marriage Migration (F6) with 74 people at 29.6%, Seasonal Worker (E8) with 60 at 24%, and Visiting Cohabitation (F1) with 47 at 18.8%. Organizations that support immigrants number 1 in this district, or 40 per 10,000 registered foreigners.
