Ulsan Dong-gu

Registered foreigners in Ulsan Dong-gu number 11,114, which is 7.45% of the resident-registration population of 149,257. That is above both the national average of 3.14% and the Ulsan average of 2.76%. It ranks 16 among the 250 districts. Within Ulsan it ranks 1 of 5. Over the past 10 years, registered foreigners rose from 6,244 in 2015 to 11,114, an increase of about 78%. 89 nationalities are counted, and the three largest are Vietnam at 29.7%, Sri Lanka at 13%, and Uzbekistan at 10.7%. It ranks 10 of 250 districts. Southeast Asia accounts for 49.6% and South Asia for 16.9%, and the two together are 66.5%. Language demand estimated from the nationality composition is highest for Vietnamese, then Sinhala, then Uzbek.

Foreign residents (MOIS) numbered 12,440 in 2024, which is 7.9% of the resident-registration population of 158,268. Of these, 10,711 do not hold Republic of Korea nationality, 614 have acquired nationality, and 1,115 are children of foreign residents. By type, foreign workers number 5,900, other foreigners 3,196, overseas Koreans with foreign nationality 885, and Marriage migrants 561. Children of foreign residents number 1,115, which ranks 116 among 252 districts and is 9% of foreign residents in this district. Among the 11,114 people with a known status of stay, the most common are Specially Designated Activities (E7) with 3,984 people at 35.8%, Non-professional Employment (E9) with 2,876 at 25.9%, and Dependent Family (F3) with 851 at 7.7%. Organizations that support immigrants number 7 in this district, or 6.3 per 10,000 registered foreigners.
