Jeollabuk-do Buan-gun

Registered foreigners in Jeollabuk-do Buan-gun number 1,492, which is 3.16% of the resident-registration population of 47,220. That is above both the national average of 3.14% and the Jeollabuk-do average of 2.85%. It ranks 109 among the 250 districts. Within Jeollabuk-do it ranks 6 of 15. Over the past 10 years, registered foreigners rose from 644 in 2015 to 1,492, an increase of about 131.7%. 39 nationalities are counted, and the three largest are Vietnam at 47.6%, Nepal at 9.2%, and Cambodia at 7%. The location quotient (LQ) for Vietnam is 2.6, and this one nationality is 47.6% of the foreigners in the district. Language demand estimated from the nationality composition is highest for Vietnamese, then Khmer, then Chinese.

Foreign residents (MOIS) numbered 2,518 in 2024, which is 5.4% of the resident-registration population of 46,363. Of these, 1,672 do not hold Republic of Korea nationality, 304 have acquired nationality, and 542 are children of foreign residents. By type, other foreigners number 747, foreign workers 649, Marriage migrants 210, and overseas Koreans with foreign nationality 65. Children of foreign residents number 542, which ranks 184 among 252 districts and is 21.5% of foreign residents in this district. Among the 1,492 people with a known status of stay, the most common are Non-professional Employment (E9) with 668 people at 44.8%, Marriage Migration (F6) with 174 at 11.7%, and Seasonal Worker (E8) with 157 at 10.5%. Organizations that support immigrants number 2 in this district, or 13.4 per 10,000 registered foreigners.
