Incheon Namdong-gu

Registered foreigners in Incheon Namdong-gu number 13,897, which is 2.89% of the resident-registration population of 480,147. That is below both the national average of 3.14% and the Incheon average of 3.11%. It ranks 117 among the 250 districts. Within Incheon it ranks 6 of 10. Over the past 10 years, registered foreigners rose from 12,504 in 2015 to 13,897, an increase of about 11.1%. 90 nationalities are counted, and the three largest are Korean-Chinese at 22.5%, Vietnam at 13.8%, and China at 12.3%. Shannon diversity (H) is 2.55, below the national 2.607, and ranks 35 of 250 districts. Within Incheon it ranks 3. By continent of origin, diversity is 0.104, below the national 0.123. It ranks 136 of 250 districts. East Asia accounts for 39.8% and Southeast Asia for 38.7%, and the two together are 78.6%. Language demand estimated from the nationality composition is highest for Chinese, then Vietnamese, then Burmese.

Foreign residents (MOIS) numbered 25,631 in 2024, which is 5.2% of the resident-registration population of 492,920. Of these, 19,263 do not hold Republic of Korea nationality, 3,317 have acquired nationality, and 3,051 are children of foreign residents. By type, other foreigners number 6,756, foreign workers 5,747, overseas Koreans with foreign nationality 4,057, and Marriage migrants 2,240. Children of foreign residents number 3,051, which ranks 14 among 252 districts and is 11.9% of foreign residents in this district. Among the 13,897 people with a known status of stay, the most common are Non-professional Employment (E9) with 4,426 people at 31.8%, Permanent Residence (F5) with 2,997 at 21.6%, and Marriage Migration (F6) with 1,784 at 12.8%. Organizations that support immigrants number 18 in this district, or 13 per 10,000 registered foreigners.
