Gyeonggi-do Uiwang-si

Registered foreigners in Gyeonggi-do Uiwang-si number 1,092, which is 0.68% of the resident-registration population of 160,370. That is below both the national average of 3.14% and the Gyeonggi-do average of 3.59%. It ranks 242 among the 250 districts. Within Gyeonggi-do it ranks 39 of 42. Over the past 10 years, registered foreigners fell from 1,385 in 2015 to 1,092, a decrease of about 21.2%. 51 nationalities are counted, and the three largest are Korean-Chinese at 18.9%, Vietnam at 15.5%, and China at 13.4%. Shannon diversity (H) is 2.488, below the national 2.607, and ranks 54 of 250 districts. Within Gyeonggi-do it ranks 14. By continent of origin, diversity is 0.032, below the national 0.123. It ranks 241 of 250 districts. East Asia accounts for 39% and Southeast Asia for 35.6%, and the two together are 74.6%. Language demand estimated from the nationality composition is highest for Chinese, then Vietnamese, then English.

Foreign residents (MOIS) numbered 2,489 in 2024, which is 1.6% of the resident-registration population of 151,306. Of these, 1,575 do not hold Republic of Korea nationality, 332 have acquired nationality, and 582 are children of foreign residents. By type, other foreigners number 491, foreign workers 374, Marriage migrants 339, and overseas Koreans with foreign nationality 329. Children of foreign residents number 582, which ranks 179 among 252 districts and is 23.4% of foreign residents in this district. Among the 1,092 people with a known status of stay, the most common are Marriage Migration (F6) with 288 people at 26.4%, Permanent Residence (F5) with 245 at 22.4%, and Non-professional Employment (E9) with 221 at 20.2%. Organizations that support immigrants number 1 in this district, or 9.2 per 10,000 registered foreigners.
