Gyeonggi-do Uijeongbu-si

Registered foreigners in Gyeonggi-do Uijeongbu-si number 8,200, which is 1.78% of the resident-registration population of 461,572. That is below both the national average of 3.14% and the Gyeonggi-do average of 3.59%. It ranks 180 among the 250 districts. Within Gyeonggi-do it ranks 27 of 42. Over the past 10 years, registered foreigners rose from 3,817 in 2015 to 8,200, an increase of about 114.8%. 80 nationalities are counted, and the three largest are Vietnam at 21.5%, Mongolia at 18.3%, and China at 16.6%. Shannon diversity (H) is 2.315, below the national 2.607, and ranks 116 of 250 districts. Within Gyeonggi-do it ranks 24. By continent of origin, diversity is 0.061, below the national 0.123. It ranks 199 of 250 districts. East Asia accounts for 50.1% and Southeast Asia for 29%, and the two together are 79.2%. Language demand estimated from the nationality composition is highest for Vietnamese, then Chinese, then Mongolian.

Foreign residents (MOIS) numbered 12,571 in 2024, which is 2.8% of the resident-registration population of 456,516. Of these, 8,803 do not hold Republic of Korea nationality, 1,684 have acquired nationality, and 2,084 are children of foreign residents. By type, other foreigners number 2,808, International studentss 2,574, Marriage migrants 1,356, and overseas Koreans with foreign nationality 1,344. Children of foreign residents number 2,084, which ranks 30 among 252 districts and is 16.6% of foreign residents in this district. Among the 8,200 people with a known status of stay, the most common are Student (D2) with 2,497 people at 30.5%, General Trainee (D4) with 1,406 at 17.1%, and Marriage Migration (F6) with 1,150 at 14%. Organizations that support immigrants number 9 in this district, or 11 per 10,000 registered foreigners.
