Gyeonggi-do Suwon-si Yeongtong-gu

Registered foreigners in Gyeonggi-do Suwon-si Yeongtong-gu number 9,505, which is 2.62% of the resident-registration population of 362,493. That is below both the national average of 3.14% and the Gyeonggi-do average of 3.59%. It ranks 129 among the 250 districts. Within Gyeonggi-do it ranks 23 of 42. Over the past 10 years, registered foreigners rose from 7,358 in 2015 to 9,505, an increase of about 29.2%. 106 nationalities are counted, and the three largest are Vietnam at 24.1%, China at 20.7%, and Korean-Chinese at 10.9%. Shannon diversity (H) is 2.302, below the national 2.607, and ranks 125 of 250 districts. Within Gyeonggi-do it ranks 26. By continent of origin, diversity is 0.101, below the national 0.123. It ranks 140 of 250 districts. East Asia accounts for 38.7% and Southeast Asia for 31.4%, and the two together are 70.2%. Language demand estimated from the nationality composition is highest for Chinese, then Vietnamese, then English.

Foreign residents (MOIS) numbered 13,119 in 2024, which is 3.6% of the resident-registration population of 364,750. Of these, 11,145 do not hold Republic of Korea nationality, 811 have acquired nationality, and 1,163 are children of foreign residents. By type, other foreigners number 3,796, International studentss 3,528, overseas Koreans with foreign nationality 1,618, and foreign workers 1,216. Children of foreign residents number 1,163, which ranks 108 among 252 districts and is 8.9% of foreign residents in this district. Among the 9,505 people with a known status of stay, the most common are Student (D2) with 3,125 people at 32.9%, Permanent Residence (F5) with 1,319 at 13.9%, and General Trainee (D4) with 1,174 at 12.4%. Organizations that support immigrants number 4 in this district, or 4.2 per 10,000 registered foreigners.
