Gyeonggi-do Suwon-si Jangan-gu

Registered foreigners in Gyeonggi-do Suwon-si Jangan-gu number 7,890, which is 2.91% of the resident-registration population of 271,136. That is below both the national average of 3.14% and the Gyeonggi-do average of 3.59%. It ranks 115 among the 250 districts. Within Gyeonggi-do it ranks 22 of 42. Over the past 10 years, registered foreigners rose from 6,150 in 2015 to 7,890, an increase of about 28.3%. 96 nationalities are counted, and the three largest are Korean-Chinese at 30.6%, Vietnam at 29.1%, and China at 18.4%. Shannon diversity (H) is 1.859, below the national 2.607, and ranks 227 of 250 districts. Within Gyeonggi-do it ranks 36. By continent of origin, diversity is 0.083, below the national 0.123. It ranks 171 of 250 districts. East Asia accounts for 53.5% and Southeast Asia for 32.7%, and the two together are 86.2%. Language demand estimated from the nationality composition is highest for Vietnamese, then Chinese, then Mongolian.

Foreign residents (MOIS) numbered 13,590 in 2024, which is 4.8% of the resident-registration population of 280,812. Of these, 10,880 do not hold Republic of Korea nationality, 1,514 have acquired nationality, and 1,196 are children of foreign residents. By type, other foreigners number 3,649, overseas Koreans with foreign nationality 2,987, International studentss 2,405, and Marriage migrants 936. Children of foreign residents number 1,196, which ranks 101 among 252 districts and is 8.8% of foreign residents in this district. Among the 7,890 people with a known status of stay, the most common are Permanent Residence (F5) with 1,899 people at 24.1%, Student (D2) with 1,788 at 22.7%, and General Trainee (D4) with 1,096 at 13.9%. Organizations that support immigrants number 6 in this district, or 7.6 per 10,000 registered foreigners.
