Gyeonggi-do Seongnam-si Sujeong-gu

Registered foreigners in Gyeonggi-do Seongnam-si Sujeong-gu number 12,270, which is 5.28% of the resident-registration population of 232,389. That is above both the national average of 3.14% and the Gyeonggi-do average of 3.59%. It ranks 43 among the 250 districts. Within Gyeonggi-do it ranks 9 of 42. Over the past 10 years, registered foreigners rose from 11,004 in 2015 to 12,270, an increase of about 11.5%. 74 nationalities are counted, and the three largest are Korean-Chinese at 35%, China at 20.8%, and Vietnam at 19.5%. It ranks 114 of 250 districts. East Asia accounts for 60.3% and Southeast Asia for 25.7%, and the two together are 86%. The location quotient (LQ) for Korean-Chinese is 3.8, and this one nationality is 35% of the foreigners in the district. Language demand estimated from the nationality composition is highest for Chinese, then Vietnamese, then English.

Foreign residents (MOIS) numbered 19,794 in 2024, which is 8% of the resident-registration population of 246,990. Of these, 16,661 do not hold Republic of Korea nationality, 1,885 have acquired nationality, and 1,248 are children of foreign residents. By type, overseas Koreans with foreign nationality number 5,455, other foreigners 4,608, International studentss 3,427, and foreign workers 2,006. Children of foreign residents number 1,248, which ranks 90 among 252 districts and is 6.3% of foreign residents in this district. Among the 12,270 people with a known status of stay, the most common are Student (D2) with 3,429 people at 27.9%, Permanent Residence (F5) with 2,638 at 21.5%, and Visiting Employment (H2) with 1,653 at 13.5%. Organizations that support immigrants number 3 in this district, or 2.4 per 10,000 registered foreigners.
