Gyeonggi-do Gunpo-si

Registered foreigners in Gyeonggi-do Gunpo-si number 5,945, which is 2.37% of the resident-registration population of 251,367. That is below both the national average of 3.14% and the Gyeonggi-do average of 3.59%. It ranks 143 among the 250 districts. Within Gyeonggi-do it ranks 24 of 42. Over the past 10 years, registered foreigners fell from 6,997 in 2015 to 5,945, a decrease of about 15%. 63 nationalities are counted, and the three largest are Korean-Chinese at 43.5%, China at 19.9%, and Vietnam at 15.8%. Shannon diversity (H) is 1.845, below the national 2.607, and ranks 230 of 250 districts. Within Gyeonggi-do it ranks 38. By continent of origin, diversity is 0.052, below the national 0.123. It ranks 212 of 250 districts. East Asia accounts for 67% and Southeast Asia for 24.1%, and the two together are 91.1%. The location quotient (LQ) for Korean-Chinese is 2.1, and this one nationality is 43.5% of the foreigners in the district. Language demand estimated from the nationality composition is highest for Chinese, then Vietnamese, then Japanese.

Foreign residents (MOIS) numbered 12,980 in 2024, which is 5% of the resident-registration population of 258,110. Of these, 9,911 do not hold Republic of Korea nationality, 1,764 have acquired nationality, and 1,305 are children of foreign residents. By type, overseas Koreans with foreign nationality number 3,788, other foreigners 3,284, foreign workers 1,429, and Marriage migrants 1,112. Children of foreign residents number 1,305, which ranks 85 among 252 districts and is 10.1% of foreign residents in this district. Among the 5,945 people with a known status of stay, the most common are Permanent Residence (F5) with 1,993 people at 33.5%, Marriage Migration (F6) with 833 at 14%, and Visiting Employment (H2) with 658 at 11.1%. Organizations that support immigrants number 7 in this district, or 11.8 per 10,000 registered foreigners.
