Daejeon Dong-gu

Registered foreigners in Daejeon Dong-gu number 7,606, which is 3.48% of the resident-registration population of 218,664. That is above both the national average of 3.14% and the Daejeon average of 1.97%. It ranks 90 among the 250 districts. Within Daejeon it ranks 1 of 5. Over the past 10 years, registered foreigners rose from 3,570 in 2015 to 7,606, an increase of about 113.1%. 98 nationalities are counted, and the three largest are Vietnam at 40.6%, China at 16.4%, and Uzbekistan at 5.5%. Language demand estimated from the nationality composition is highest for Vietnamese, then Chinese, then Uzbek.

Foreign residents (MOIS) numbered 10,177 in 2024, which is 4.4% of the resident-registration population of 229,875. Of these, 8,108 do not hold Republic of Korea nationality, 762 have acquired nationality, and 1,307 are children of foreign residents. By type, International studentss number 4,328, other foreigners 2,423, Marriage migrants 658, and foreign workers 389. Children of foreign residents number 1,307, which ranks 84 among 252 districts and is 12.8% of foreign residents in this district. Among the 7,606 people with a known status of stay, the most common are Student (D2) with 4,038 people at 53.1%, General Trainee (D4) with 1,204 at 15.8%, and Marriage Migration (F6) with 626 at 8.2%. Organizations that support immigrants number 8 in this district, or 10.5 per 10,000 registered foreigners.
