Daegu Jung-gu

Registered foreigners in Daegu Jung-gu number 996, which is 0.99% of the resident-registration population of 101,007. That is below both the national average of 3.14% and the Daegu average of 1.7%. It ranks 227 among the 250 districts. Within Daegu it ranks 7 of 9. Over the past 10 years, registered foreigners rose from 806 in 2015 to 996, an increase of about 23.6%. 54 nationalities are counted, and the three largest are United States at 22.3%, Vietnam at 16.6%, and Taiwan at 11.7%. It ranks 215 of 250 districts. East Asia accounts for 30.7% and Southeast Asia for 25.2%, and the two together are 55.9%. Language demand estimated from the nationality composition is highest for Chinese, then English, then Vietnamese.

Foreign residents (MOIS) numbered 1,363 in 2024, which is 1.4% of the resident-registration population of 94,128. Of these, 936 do not hold Republic of Korea nationality, 145 have acquired nationality, and 282 are children of foreign residents. By type, other foreigners number 411, Marriage migrants 175, International studentss 139, and overseas Koreans with foreign nationality 110. Children of foreign residents number 282, which ranks 234 among 252 districts and is 20.7% of foreign residents in this district. Among the 996 people with a known status of stay, the most common are Marriage Migration (F6) with 175 people at 17.6%, Permanent Residence (F5) with 155 at 15.6%, and Student (D2) with 140 at 14.1%. Organizations that support immigrants number 6 in this district, or 60.2 per 10,000 registered foreigners.
