Culture & Arts

The status code is D1, and it covers Culture and arts activity with no profit motive, that is, academic or artistic research, apprenticeship and similar work.

People registered under the Culture & Arts (D1) status number 58, which is less than 0.1% of all registered foreigners. Compared with 73 in 2015, 10 years earlier, that is a decrease of about 20.5%. The largest nationalities are Vietnam at 29.3%, France at 10.3%, and China at 8.6%. They are found in 27 districts, and the largest counts are Eumseong-gun with 12, Seongnam-si Bundang-gu with 7, and Gwanak-gu with 6.

Note: the status families are exactly as the yearbook groups them. The overseas Korean status (F-4) does not appear on this page. Its holders file a place-of-residence report rather than a foreign-resident registration, so they are outside the registered foreigner statistics; they are not absent from the country. On the staying basis they were the largest single status in 2025, at 556,288.
