Jeollanam-do Gokseong-gun

Registered foreigners in Jeollanam-do Gokseong-gun number 646, which is 2.37% of the resident-registration population of 27,287. That is below both the national average of 3.14% and the Jeollanam-do average of 3.69%. It ranks 145 among the 250 districts. Within Jeollanam-do it ranks 17 of 22. Over the past 10 years, registered foreigners rose from 374 in 2015 to 646, an increase of about 72.7%. 25 nationalities are counted, and the three largest are Vietnam at 22.6%, Cambodia at 19.8%, and Nepal at 18.1%. Shannon diversity (H) is 2.286, below the national 2.607, and ranks 134 of 250 districts. Within Jeollanam-do it ranks 6. By continent of origin, diversity is 0.119, below the national 0.123. It ranks 116 of 250 districts. Southeast Asia accounts for 58.7% and South Asia for 26.6%, and the two together are 85.3%. Language demand estimated from the nationality composition is highest for Vietnamese, then Khmer, then Nepali.

Foreign residents (MOIS) numbered 1,238 in 2024, which is 4.8% of the resident-registration population of 25,990. Of these, 758 do not hold Republic of Korea nationality, 153 have acquired nationality, and 327 are children of foreign residents. By type, foreign workers number 298, other foreigners 262, Marriage migrants 91, and International studentss 64. Children of foreign residents number 327, which ranks 222 among 252 districts and is 26.4% of foreign residents in this district. Among the 646 people with a known status of stay, the most common are Non-professional Employment (E9) with 317 people at 49.1%, Marriage Migration (F6) with 63 at 9.8%, and Specially Designated Activities (E7) with 54 at 8.4%. Organizations that support immigrants number 2 in this district, or 31 per 10,000 registered foreigners.
