Incheon Ganghwa-gun

Registered foreigners in Incheon Ganghwa-gun number 1,275, which is 1.83% of the resident-registration population of 69,698. That is below both the national average of 3.14% and the Incheon average of 3.11%. It ranks 174 among the 250 districts. Within Incheon it ranks 9 of 10. Over the past 10 years, registered foreigners rose from 746 in 2015 to 1,275, an increase of about 70.9%. 36 nationalities are counted, and the three largest are Vietnam at 14.5%, Myanmar at 12.5%, and Nepal at 12.4%. Shannon diversity (H) is 2.679, above the national 2.607, and ranks 12 of 250 districts. Within Incheon it ranks 2. By continent of origin, diversity is 0.1, below the national 0.123. It ranks 141 of 250 districts. Southeast Asia accounts for 50.8% and South Asia for 21.3%, and the two together are 72.2%. Language demand estimated from the nationality composition is highest for Vietnamese, then Burmese, then Nepali.

Foreign residents (MOIS) numbered 2,144 in 2024, which is 3.2% of the resident-registration population of 66,309. Of these, 1,513 do not hold Republic of Korea nationality, 224 have acquired nationality, and 407 are children of foreign residents. By type, foreign workers number 779, other foreigners 389, Marriage migrants 178, and overseas Koreans with foreign nationality 149. Children of foreign residents number 407, which ranks 203 among 252 districts and is 19% of foreign residents in this district. Among the 1,275 people with a known status of stay, the most common are Non-professional Employment (E9) with 692 people at 54.3%, Marriage Migration (F6) with 168 at 13.2%, and Specially Designated Activities (E7) with 94 at 7.4%. Organizations that support immigrants number 2 in this district, or 15.7 per 10,000 registered foreigners.
