Gyeonggi-do Gapyeong-gun

Registered foreigners in Gyeonggi-do Gapyeong-gun number 1,370, which is 2.21% of the resident-registration population of 62,125. That is below both the national average of 3.14% and the Gyeonggi-do average of 3.59%. It ranks 152 among the 250 districts. Within Gyeonggi-do it ranks 26 of 42. Over the past 10 years, registered foreigners rose from 1,077 in 2015 to 1,370, an increase of about 27.2%. 53 nationalities are counted, and the three largest are Japan at 27%, Vietnam at 12.6%, and Korean-Chinese at 9.6%. Shannon diversity (H) is 2.469, below the national 2.607, and ranks 61 of 250 districts. Within Gyeonggi-do it ranks 17. By continent of origin, diversity is 0.08, below the national 0.123. It ranks 174 of 250 districts. East Asia accounts for 45.6% and Southeast Asia for 26.5%, and the two together are 72.1%. Language demand estimated from the nationality composition is highest for Japanese, then Vietnamese, then Chinese.

Foreign residents (MOIS) numbered 2,635 in 2024, which is 4.4% of the resident-registration population of 60,384. Of these, 1,641 do not hold Republic of Korea nationality, 339 have acquired nationality, and 655 are children of foreign residents. By type, other foreigners number 518, Marriage migrants 467, foreign workers 320, and overseas Koreans with foreign nationality 267. Children of foreign residents number 655, which ranks 168 among 252 districts and is 24.9% of foreign residents in this district. Among the 1,370 people with a known status of stay, the most common are Permanent Residence (F5) with 283 people at 20.7%, Marriage Migration (F6) with 275 at 20.1%, and Non-professional Employment (E9) with 212 at 15.5%. Organizations that support immigrants number 1 in this district, or 7.3 per 10,000 registered foreigners.
