Chungcheongnam-do Gongju-si

Registered foreigners in Chungcheongnam-do Gongju-si number 3,237, which is 3.24% of the resident-registration population of 99,979. That is between the national average of 3.14% and the Chungcheongnam-do average of 5%. It ranks 101 among the 250 districts. Within Chungcheongnam-do it ranks 15 of 16. Over the past 10 years, registered foreigners rose from 1,796 in 2015 to 3,237, an increase of about 80.2%. 45 nationalities are counted, and the three largest are Vietnam at 37.3%, Nepal at 12.9%, and Cambodia at 8.3%. The location quotient (LQ) for Vietnam is 2.1, and this one nationality is 37.3% of the foreigners in the district. Language demand estimated from the nationality composition is highest for Vietnamese, then Chinese, then Khmer.

Foreign residents (MOIS) numbered 5,377 in 2024, which is 5.2% of the resident-registration population of 104,393. Of these, 3,774 do not hold Republic of Korea nationality, 568 have acquired nationality, and 1,035 are children of foreign residents. By type, other foreigners number 1,749, foreign workers 994, International studentss 420, and Marriage migrants 391. Children of foreign residents number 1,035, which ranks 124 among 252 districts and is 19.2% of foreign residents in this district. Among the 3,237 people with a known status of stay, the most common are Non-professional Employment (E9) with 877 people at 27.1%, Seasonal Worker (E8) with 602 at 18.6%, and Marriage Migration (F6) with 350 at 10.8%. Organizations that support immigrants number 5 in this district, or 15.4 per 10,000 registered foreigners.
