Gyeonggi-do Gimpo-si

Registered foreigners in Gyeonggi-do Gimpo-si number 26,363, which is 5.44% of the resident-registration population of 484,792. That is above both the national average of 3.14% and the Gyeonggi-do average of 3.59%. It ranks 40 among the 250 districts. Within Gyeonggi-do it ranks 8 of 42. Over the past 10 years, registered foreigners rose from 16,783 in 2015 to 26,363, an increase of about 57.1%. 104 nationalities are counted, and the three largest are Myanmar at 13.2%, Korean-Chinese at 11%, and Nepal at 10.2%. Shannon diversity (H) is 2.719, above the national 2.607, and ranks 2 of 250 districts. Within Gyeonggi-do it ranks 2. By continent of origin, diversity is 0.214, above the national 0.123. It ranks 35 of 250 districts. Southeast Asia accounts for 43.6% and South Asia for 23%, and the two together are 66.6%. Language demand estimated from the nationality composition is highest for Burmese, then Chinese, then Khmer.

Foreign residents (MOIS) numbered 40,057 in 2024, which is 8% of the resident-registration population of 499,536. Of these, 33,497 do not hold Republic of Korea nationality, 3,237 have acquired nationality, and 3,323 are children of foreign residents. By type, foreign workers number 15,872, other foreigners 10,054, overseas Koreans with foreign nationality 4,598, and Marriage migrants 2,451. Children of foreign residents number 3,323, which ranks 10 among 252 districts and is 8.3% of foreign residents in this district. Among the 26,363 people with a known status of stay, the most common are Non-professional Employment (E9) with 13,143 people at 49.9%, Permanent Residence (F5) with 2,449 at 9.3%, and Specially Designated Activities (E7) with 2,161 at 8.2%. Organizations that support immigrants number 25 in this district, or 9.5 per 10,000 registered foreigners.
